Haiti relief

Posted January 14, 2010

Yesterday was supposed to be a day that I follow a special yearly tradition. It was the first day that Burning Man tickets go on sale. Every year on the first day they are on sale, I hunker down in front of my computer with a few hours worth of food, and whatever work I need to get done, and attempt to be among the first people to order their burning man tickets. It usually a frustratingly long process, that you have to be glued to your computer for, or risk the website being over loaded, and being kicked back to the end of the line.

After hearing about and seeing pictures of the massive earthquake that devastated Haiti, indulging myself by purchasing an expensive ticket to something 8 months away didn’t feel right, when so many people have just lost everything. Instead of buying my burning man ticket, I donated the money to Partners in Health, a non profit organization actively working to help in Haiti.

If you are able to do so, please donate to the cause.
