365 Things to do in Portland #54- Check out Pine State Biscuits.

If you’re looking for authentic Southern cooking in Portland, head on over to the Belmont neighborhood and stop in at Pine State Biscuits. This tiny (18 seats or so) neighborhood restaurant is open daily from 7am-2pm and has attracted a huge following of very loyal fans.

In 2008, Pine States signature sandwich The Reggie Deluxe was listed  as one of the best sandwiches in America by Esquire magazine, and has received similiar recognition in other local and out of state press as well.  The Reggie Deluxe  is rumored to cure hangovers (which may be one of the reasons the place is jam packed weekends), although I think this biscuit, bacon, fried egg, cheese and sausage gravy sandwich is probably more likely to clog your arteries than anything else. This is not the place to come for a healthy meal after your yoga class!

Serving daily from  7am – 2pm.

The restaurant is at 3640 SE Belmont Street Portland. You can also find them at the Portland Farmers Market on Saturdays -365 Things to do in Portland #16
