365 Things to do in Portland #145: Staccato Gelato

Looking for another great way to cool off.  Next time your in the Kerns neighborhood, stop in at Staccato Gelato @ 232 NE 28th, otherwise known as restaurant row.

Staccato’s is a really cool and colorful little shop. Frequent customers will notice that the flavors are constantly changing. Last time I was there I asked how they decide what to make, and the guy serving my gelato said the flavors changed based on the ‘whimsy’ of whoever was making the gelato that day. They serve around 20 different ones at any time, so it’s likely you will find something you are excited about. They also make fresh doughnuts that they make in shop Friday thru Sunday- I’ve never tried them though, as I’d  personally  take an extra scoop over a doughnut.

Another great thing about Staccato Gelato is that they make Oregon flavors for their gelato and  use local produce and supplies, so when you order plum gelato, you are getting a local plum. They also use local rBST-free milk and cream. They also have free wifi, coffee and teas, outdoor seating and a kids area.
