365 Things to do in Portland #169: Portland Riverfest

Head downtown to the Willamette River tomorrow for a full day of fun and education tomorrow. Portland RiverFest has lined up a full schedule of events on or along the Willamette for you. RiverFest’s goal is to make the river a focus of fun and learning, improve the river ecosystem through community engagement, and promote increased economic activity along the river.

Events include The Freshwater Trust Portland Triathlon, Portland Audubon events, the Festival at South Waterfront, Kayak Tours, Portland Spirit river cruises,a community paddle, free kayak demos from Alder Creek, a 3 hour jetboat excersion, a free showing of the movie ‘Mama Mia’  down on the South waterfront,and the SOLV Cleanup.

Riverfest continues Sunday with a triathalon through downtown Portland (of course you actually have to swim in the river), more cruises on the Portland Spirit, a 5k race, tour of the Morrison bridge, and boat building class (which starts Saturday).
