365 Things to do in Portland #172: BeWon Korean Restaurant
It’s been a few years since I’ve been to BeWon, but I’ve probably eaten there five or six times, and I’ve always had a great experience. If you’re looking for a sophisticated restaurant and really want to savor your meal, BeWon is your place.
I like the 7 course Prix Fixe dinnerl for $25. I’m not going to try and pretend I know what it all is, but everything they serve is delicious and extrememely well presented. For less money you can just order an entree (most are under $15), which comes with 9 side dishes. If you’re on a budget, stop in for lunch- all their main dishes are under $10 and come with 7 side dishes. My favorite is the Bulgogi- thinkly sliced ribeye.
I’ve never been to BeWon when it was crowded, so we usually felt like we had the place to ourselves. Often, I actually hope more people would show up while were there, as it’s such a great experience. BeWon is located below ground on the Northern side of 23rd, so it is slightly hidden (this is probably why it isn’t real busy).
Check out BeWon and let me know what you think.
