365 Things to do in Portland #174: Kanaval

The folks over at Mangrove Fund (a non profit that provides relief for Haiti).  asked me to post this for them. Kanaval is a ‘carnival style’ party that is going to raise funds for Haitan orphanages that were devastated by the earthquakes in January.  This event is inspired by Kanaval Haiti- the biggest yearly festival, that celebrates dancing, music and Haiti’s African and Creole roots.

Tickets are  $75 each. If you have the money to go, consider it your donation to the children of Haiti, who right now can really use the help.  This event will be MC’d by Daarcelle. Entertainment includes live music by The Kung Pao Chickens, stiltwalkers, jugglers, fire performance, and all the crazy fun you can expect from a carnival. This event is happening from 6-10pm and is 21+. Beer and wine is complimentary.  This is happening at the River View Picnic area at Oaks Park 7805 SE Oaks Park Way, Portland.
